Brief history
The date of foundation of Andorra is considered to be 805, when Charlemagne granted the community the Great Charter of Freedom. In 1278 association was formed with France and Spain, which allowed the small state to preserve its sovereignty without protecting its borders, as a result of which they have remained unchanged to this day.

The popularity of Andorra around the world started growing in the second half of the 20th century. Several factors promoted this, but the main role was played by the opening ski resorts and attractive legislation for foreign capital.

Today Andorra is a country with high living standards and almost complete absence of crime. Beautiful architecture against the background of mountain landscapes, ancient traditions, and a well-developed infrastructure create a pleasant relaxing atmosphere, which attracts connoisseurs of comfortable and diverse recreation.

Snowmobiles

Snowmobile rides in Andorra combine extreme and a chance to admire the snow covered Pyrenees. Routes of different length and complexity are available here, some of them are open for families with children, and others accommodate only self-confident adults.
Snowshoe walks
Winter Pyrenees are beautiful, so probably the best way to appreciate their beauty at leisure is to take a walk on snowshoes or skis. Local guides lead groups along the routes of different levels — in the valley, with ups and downs or combined with ski free ride. You can take your children on the simplest walks. Usually these route lead through authentic huts or chalet, where you can have a rest by the fireplace before heading back.

Thermal springs Caldea

The main spa attraction of Andorra is certainly the thermal complex Caldea. Built on the thermal springs with the temperature of 20−70°С and rich mineral composition, Caldea combines recovery and entertainment. To be more exact, one can take care of their health with pleasure — it is ensured by luxurious pools, Jacuzzi, hydro massage, geysers, as well as masseurs and cosmetologists working according to European and Oriental techniques.

It is difficult to enumerate all the zones and attractions of the complex, but here are some of them:
· open and covered swimming pools;
· saunas, hamam;
· bathhouses — Indo-Roman, Mediterranean, Icelandic and others;

The cost of visiting the thermal resort Caldea/Inuu depends on the choice of complex (there are 2 of them here, including one for children), number of hours, additional services, and it starts from 40 euro. With booked massage and beauty treatment the package price will be more favorable.
Recreation in Caldea may be of any kind:

· staying in hotels here at Escaldes-Ergodany or in the principality capital situated just a few kilometers away.

The trip from Spain to the thermal springs can be combined with sightseeing in Andorra, shopping, visits to parks or other forms of entertainment.

You can buy practically anything in Andorra: clothes of world brands, electronic goods, jewelry, alcohol, and tobacco. Skiers and snowboarders can get their best equipment for very attractive prices – many shops can be found right on the territory of the resort.

Shopping in Andorra has a few peculiarities:

· there are no special zones – shops, shopping centers and boutiques are situated in all the towns of the principality;

· there are some limitations on some goods, for instance the allowed amount of exported alcohol is 1,5-5 liters depending on the proof, tobacco – 2 cartons;

· most shops are open from 9.30 to 21.00, some of them close for lunch;

If the goal of your trip to Andorra is shopping, then people usually choose the capital – Andorra La Vella. But shopping here can always be combined with cultural recreation and different activities; you can always buy something interesting in any town.
